One of the many engaging presenters at this year's Youth Energy Summit was Tom Byrne of Byrne and Company Limited and Algaedyne Corporation. From an office located in the small Minnesota town of Preston, MN, Mr. Byrne works with clients from around the world to research and implement algae as a renewable energy source.  Read more about YES at:  YES! Thomas Byrne,attended the International Biorefining Conference and Tradeshow where hemoderated the session "Greater than the Sum: Leveraging Strategic Partnerships in Biorefining". In April of 2011, Mr. Byrne accepted an invitation to BIT's World Congress of Marine Biology held in Dalian, China to speak on "Commercialization of Microalgae Production in Photobioreactors".  Information on the event can be found at:  World Congress of Marine Technology

While in China in April of 2011, Thomas Byrne was also requested to speak on "Local, Regional and Country Economic Impacts of Bioenergy" at the World Congress of Bioenergy. More information can be found at: World Congress on Bioenergy

The 14th Annual Energy & Environment Conference (EUEC 2011) was held in Phoenix, Arizona from January 31 - February 2, 2011.  Thomas Byrne spoke on "Utilization of CAFO Sites for Algal Biomass Production."  More information can be found at: www.euec.com

Thomas Byrne was selected to speak on "Commercial Algal Biomass from Confined Animal Feeding Operations"at the Pacific West Biomass Conference & Trade Show.  The conference, hosted by BBI International,was held January 10-12, 2011 at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel, Seattle, Washington.  More information at:

Thomas Byrne Part of "Algae for Energy" Panel at World Congress Event

“Algae for Energy” was the topic of discussion for President Thomas Byrne of Byrne & Company Limited, along with panel members Quinn Goretzky, Ben Cloud, Jeff Hassannia, and moderator John Pierce. The panel presented April 30th at the Fifth Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Processing in Chicago, Illinois. The three day conference attracted over 1200 attendees including: scientists, business leaders, and government officials. The conference focused on biotechnology, chemistry, and agriculture. Specifically the direct impact these sciences have on every industry, from manufacturing to production of chemicals, consumer goods, and environmental protection. The World Congress is considered the only global conference of its kind devoted to recent advancements in industrial biotechnology. The event was co-sponsored by the American Chemical Society, the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Mr. Byrne’s presentation focused on factors which influence the ability of the algae to energy to develop into a full commercial scale energy industry. Issues relating to algae strain advancements, nutrients and other in-puts, site and location specifications, and utility requirements were all covered in Mr. Byrne’s presentation.
