Thomas Byrne Part of "Algae for Energy" Panel at World Congress Event
May 12, 2008“Algae for Energy” was the topic of discussion for President Thomas Byrne of Byrne & Company Limited, along with panel members Quinn Goretzky, Ben Cloud, Jeff Hassannia, and moderator John Pierce. The panel presented April 30th at the Fifth Annual World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology & Processing in Chicago, Illinois. The three day conference attracted over 1200 attendees including: scientists, business leaders, and government officials. The conference focused on biotechnology, chemistry, and agriculture. Specifically the direct impact these sciences have on every industry, from manufacturing to production of chemicals, consumer goods, and environmental protection. The World Congress is considered the only global conference of its kind devoted to recent advancements in industrial biotechnology. The event was co-sponsored by the American Chemical Society, the National Agricultural Biotechnology Council and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Mr. Byrne’s presentation focused on factors which influence the ability of the algae to energy to develop into a full commercial scale energy industry. Issues relating to algae strain advancements, nutrients and other in-puts, site and location specifications, and utility requirements were all covered in Mr. Byrne’s presentation.
